Article: Tallac Side Table: Behind the Scenes

Inspired by the shape of a vintage stool Bridget came across when sourcing, this is our studio's take on this simplistic silhouette with rich, natural materials.
The walnut tops were sourced from the same old growth walnut orchard as the Martis Side Table bases and the juniper legs were harvested from a fire scar more than 15 years ago on the outskirts of Mammoth Mountain Resort, CA, in the Eastern Sierra.
Featuring a 2” thick English or walnut top with hand carved texture on the sides, the legs of the stool are hand whittled juniper which provide a rustic, yet elegant lengthy look. The slight ombre effect around the top is hand rubbed by the artist giving the piece a subtle warmth. Brass wedges secure the juniper legs in place while adding a decorative feature as well.
Light in presence yet rich in texture, the Tallac Side Table offers a sculptural accent beside a lounge chair, daybed, or bedside.
